Hiroyasu Murakami, Ph.D., is Chief Geologist at ENEOS Xplora Inc. Through a career spanning four public and private organizations in the mineral and energy resource sectors, he has contributed to resource security, international resource cooperation, and the development of new energy industries.

Prior to joining ENEOS Xplora in 2025, he worked at the former Metal Mining Agency of Japan (MMAJ), a predecessor organization of JOGMEC, and at the Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), where he conducted research on ore deposits, critical minerals, and resource assessment. He has published more than 80 scientific papers and received several international awards, including the Mineralium Deposita Best Paper Award.

Since joining ENEOS, he has been involved in a wide range of energy resource development projects. From 2020, while contributing to international hydrogen supply chain initiatives and evaluating new upstream energy opportunities, he encountered the emerging field of natural hydrogen, which has since become a central focus of his work. He currently leads government-supported stimulated hydrogen programs in Japan.
