Advances in pore level modelling (PNM)

Pore level modelling of transport phenomena in porous media is been researched since the pioneering papers of Fatt (1956). Recently, with the advancement pf python open source coding and AI, the literature is littered with codes addressing problems of pore level momentum, heat and mass transfer flow.  Our group embarked on a validation exercise of existing PNM and discovered numerous inconsistencies.  We are trying to address and correct those inconsistencies by generating a unified approach of transport phenomena modelling, both in drainage and imbibition, with heat transfer, mass transfer and reaction in a series of modules.  Trapping is included.  Porous media are generated synthetically, or through image analysis.  The presentation will demonstrate progress to date as well as direction of work for the upcoming year.
