Conceptual-model based exploration and appraisal of geothermal resources

Conceptual model-based geothermal exploration workflows are key to enable reliable exploration strategies for geothermal energy that have inherently lower economic and technical risks and hence increase public support. Using results from the EU-funded FindHeat project, this presentation will discuss how we can accelerate turnaround times for exploration and appraisal of geothermal resources, make better use of legacy data and non-invasive geophysical techniques, constrain uncertainties with respect to the size of the heat source and the range of possible heat production rates, and firmly embed local cultures and public perception when exploring for geothermal resources.
