Abstract

Welcome to the Energi Simulation Summit School 2024!

Understanding our Role in the Energy Transition

Energy Simulation, as an organization, believes that “diversified sources of affordable energy are requied to meet growing and changing global demand driven by improving standards of living and population growth” which is supported by its mission of “creating a more sustainable energy future through simulation research”.

And while we’ve spent the last couple of days at the SUMMIT hearing and presenting technical presentations and posters, perhaps one of key phrases of the ES mission is “sustainable energy future”.

What does that future look like? What will it take to manage our transition to that “energy future”. What are the global implications of how that energy transition occurs?

Understanding these issues is a critical element of understanding what our role as Energi Simulation scholars, who are pursuing just about every aspect of energy resource modelling, are in that journey.

And that is what the SCHOOL is about this year.
